Spring/Summer 2011 RTW - Oscar de la Renta

Some of you may not have known, but Oscar de la Renta first started his fashion career by working for the late Cristobal Balenciaga, and this season was all Balenciaga with a modern De La Renta twist.

This collection De la Renta featured voluptuous sheath dresses, frothing blouses and of course pencil skirts. De la Renta chose an interesting color pallet with just about every color under the sun, from the girliest shade of pink, to navy, to the daring black. This collection was one of my favorites to show out of New York this season. Here are my picks from the runway.



One stunning piece after another, but what would be an Oscar de la Renta show without a beautiful, one-of-a-kind wedding dress to complete the collection. The bride that wears this will be one lucky bride indeed.



If I died right now I would be happy knowing I got to see this collection before I did.

In other news, London Fashion Week started today. I don't think I'll be posting many reviews this week except for the Burberry show.

Spring/Summer 2011 RTW - Donna Karan

When I watched the live show of Donna Karan yesterday morning I think my reaction was shock, why you ask? Well because she didn't use black. Donna Karan not using black is like me not stalking Lady Gaga's life via twitter. It's very rare. But she did pull out a flawless collection like always. Oh Karan, what would I do without you? Not love fashion as much, that's what.

She was one with nature this spring, her inspiration was the elements, wind, rocks, and earth, hell even the runway was covered with sand. She used a very limited color pallet consisting of different shades of beige, although some may say, "That's boring!" It was far from boring. Take a look for yourself.



Oh how I love Donna Karan, so if you're reading this Donna dear, please lets get married.

Spring/Summer 2011 RTW - Jason Wu

Fashion is perfection in the form of Jason Wu this season. Just like Wu's last spring collection, this collection was dangerous. He didn't play it safe, and for that his collection was perfection. This season was a bit extra special for Wu because it was the first collection that featured his labeled accessories including shoes, bags, and optical gear.

Wu opened with a lovely transparent bow-topped shirt, tucked into light gray high-waisted pants. The opening really set the tone of the collection as the main colors of his garments were white, black, camel, with hints of blue, yellow and pink.


I know there are 16 looks there but I truly enjoyed his show and had trouble narrowing it down to just my normal 8. Wu ended the show with two very stunning gowns. One blue (Fourth column first picture) that featured a transparent top and a stunning ruffled neck. And a pretty-in-pink satin gown that was extremely fitting and made the model look flawless.

All-in-all this is one of my all time favorite collections.

Spring/Summer 2011 RTW - Christian Siriano

Everybody who is anybody knows the face of the youngest person ever to win Lifetime's hit show, Project Runway. His thick framed glasses and edgy haircut made Christian Siriano unforgettable. Siriano was one of the first to show during Fashion Week this season, and once again did fashion justice with a one-of-a-kind collection.

Christian set the tone with a very neutral fitted leather jacket and straight-legged white pants that fit the model perfectly. The collection was filled with a lot of white, camel, and neutral colors, with some colorful prints. In a Style.com interview Siriano said that his clothes were, "A bit of African, a bit of Asian, a bit of Mediterranean-Greek." So all-in-all he showed us a collage of all different types of cultures. Here were my favorite looks of his collection.




These eight looks were my favorite out of his forty. And I hate to say this but I expected more out of Christian, his older work is more artistic is more Christian, I don't know about you guys but whenever I see this collection I see a lot of Oscar De La Renta inspired work. No? Well, maybe it's just me. But don't fret, there is more. The show stopper for me was his last two garments.



These two garments above are what Christian is all about. Those were the only two that actually made me gasp for air. I love how delicately he placed the feathers to really bulk the dress. For me, I truly hope to see a starlet wear one of those dresses on the red-carpet very soon!
