The Russian in Paris

By now, hopefully, a lot of you have been viewing the collections from Paris. Some visually thrilling, like Galliano, others painfully boring, like Givenchy.

I believe Rei Kawakubo was gender confused this season, but I liked Commes des Garçons nonetheless. With vintage Asian prints so brilliantly screaming volume and softness. I especially liked her use of wide legged trousers.
I liked Riccardo Tisci's use of stiff materials, use of brown and fur for Givenchy, but that's it. The dog prints were painfully boring. Maybe I just didn't get it?
Rudolf Nureyev, the famous Russian Ballet dancer played the part of muse for Galliano this season. Big wool coats and military jackets were seen. This collection was brilliant as it was barbaric and homoerotic, the fur cap hats were tremendous. The models looked like waxy Russian dolls. I loved it.

I would really encourage everyone to view these collections on Style.com
Paris Couture week starts monday. I'm excited for Chanel, Valentino, and Dior. What is everyone looking forward to seeing?

I love that you post stuff about menswear fashion. Everyone is mostly focusing on womenswear, it has the main spotlight, but you know, now that I see these collections, I'm starting to look differently on menswear fashion. I've always thought it was primitive and kinda boring, but now I see that it's pretty darn awesome!

this collection may have been inspired by the Russian ballet, but its got a very edgy look to it!

i like the styling: the men in tights and layering short and long shirts and jackets is cool.
