Rei Kawakubo Tells It Like It Is

Today I was reading Women's Wear Daily and came across an exclusive interview with Commes des Garçon's designer and owner, Rei Kawakubo. Kawakubo is notorious for creating one of a kind, avant-garde looks, such as the inside out tennis shoe. And it was Kawakubo who was behind the Commes des Garçon perfume that smelled like exactly bug spray.

Something she said in the interview really caught my eye. Kawakubo said, "There are very few. [Rei was referring to young designers that she liked or had her eye on] There are few people who, like us, have the values and the way of thinking to really try hard. They lack discipline. And it's not just fashion, I think…[young people] get satisfied too easily. They're not strict enough with themselves. They’re too soft on themselves."

I personally agree with Rei Kawakubo's statement. But most importantly, I really want to know how you all feel about this statement? Do you think Rei is correct? Or do you think she is absolutely selfish for thinking such a thing.

Also, please stop by the blog Fashion Collective, as they have nominated me for a Stylish Blogger Award! I'm completely thrilled to have been nominated!

Give Me Big Black Dresses and a New Look

Commes des Garcons, French for "like boys", is quite honestly my all time favorite Japanese fashion label. Hell, it's my favorite label in general. I appreciate all labels, and all things wearable. But when it comes to garments, Des Garcons holds a special place in my heart. I snagged some looks from their ss2011 collection via New York Magazine.

So stunning, so playing, so artistic, so Commes des Garcon. Thank you Rei.

You may have noticed Fashion's Religion underwent a change. It took tons of makeup, hair curlers, and lip gloss to get her like this. I'm still playing around with the look and wont stop until she is absolutely perfect. What do you guys think of the new look?

Bleak Streak in the USA

Okay, sorry for my lack of posting. I know what you're thinking, "He's not actually sorry." No, but I am! I've been helping my grandfather paint the inside of his house. So I have been unable to do anything, except well ruin some good sweatpants and ruin the inside of my grandfathers house. Note to everyone out there, never ask me to paint your house.

And though I wish I could write more reviews for PFW I just don't have the time at this moment, so please check out the godly works of Commes des Garcons, Givenchy, John Galliano, and Victor & Rolf.

So the whole point to this post was to show you guys my latest necklace and to introduce to you a true artist. A few weeks ago I was on Etsy.com, a website I'm religiously on because I have this uncontrollable shopping habit, and I came across the coolest necklace I have ever seen. It was a silver pendent featuring a poet/author I hold dear to my heart; Edgar Allen Poe. I knew I had to have it. I ordered the necklace and in about a week I got the necklace in the mail and I was hooked.

The store that I ended up buying the necklace from was from is Arete, (pronounced ahr-eh-tay). Who hand makes all of her vintage inspired goods. She sells everything from necklaces, to bookmarks each with it's own flair.

She has so many options to choose from. So please stop buy and give her items a look, you will be far from disappointed. You can find her Esty store here!
