A Fashion Funeral is Far from Unfabulous

On February 11th 2010 I received the devastating news that Lee Alexander McQueen had committed suicide. I have always idolized McQueen and he was at the top of my list for favorite designers, so the only thing I could think of to do was to cry. I'm not afraid to admit that I cried for hours after hearing the news that the man who defines British Fashion is no longer with us. I wrote a small tribute for him a while back.

Yesterday fashions elite held a memorial service for McQueen at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. If I could have been anywhere yesterday it would have been there so I could have paid my respects to one of the greatest men in fashion. So many of fashion's most known and most powerful paid their respects. It was reported that Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune spoke at the service. People like Anna Wintour, Sara Jessica Parker and Naomi Campbell were spotted walking into St. Paul's.

Although it's fun to look at the clothes and the people, we have to remember this wasn't a fashion show, but a very sad day. The clothes that all of those people are wearing were made by one of the most talented people in the industry, and clothes like that we never be produced again. Long live the king of British Fashion, Lee Alexander McQueen!

The Beginning of the New Year - Fashion Week

That's right everyone it has once again approached - the January in fashion, the new year - It's September, which means fashion week. Starting tomorrow we have nine days of none stop shows. Clothes! oh the clothes! There is only one slight problem. This year I am in college and have no time for anything other than my college work so hopefully I'll have plenty of time to review shows. For New York's fashion week I'm most excited for Vera Wang and Donna Karan. As for London I'm only looking forward to Burberry. Now Paris and Milan are different stories, I will most likely review every show during their fashion weeks. Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Valentino, Prada, Lanvin, the list goes on and on... I think I'm in love, with clothes that is.

I thought I would take the time to go back in time and look at my favorite looks from the 2009-2010 Sping/Summer Fashion season.

Don't ask me why I chose nine looks, nine just sounded good at the time, but god those are such stunning ensombles. But what kind of fashion blog would this be if I didn't post some beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, magnificant shoes? Who could ever forget the show stopper at the Alexander McQueen show? The Armadillo Stiletto. They send shivers down my spine.




Those shoes are beyond amazing, there are no words for shoes like those. I would give my first born child just to try a pair on. They are breath taking.

Also I thought since we are approaching the Fall Season I would dig up an one of my all time favorite fall collections. Ever. This is John Galliano's 2009 Fall/Winter show. It's only the first part, but it's still a wonderful show.

Lanvin for H&M

I am beyond stoked for this new collaboration with Lanvin and H&M. Lanvin has always been a favorite label of mine. Alber Elbaz is one of my fashion idols. I'm a little confused as to when the actual collection will be in stores. Style.com states the clothes will debut on November 20th, but New York Magazine says September 9th. Either way I will be there to buy some Lanvin for H&M.

What are you thoughts on this collaboration? Are you guys excited? Or peeved that such a high label is doing a collection with a minor fast-fashion retailer?

***UPDATE***

I just read via Women's Wear Daily, that the collection will debut in all stores world wide on November 23rd. But lucky for us Vegas dwellers we get the collection three days eariler on the 20th. We only get it three days early because the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace is opening a new H&M store.

(I should really stop using the word obsessed so loosely because it looses its meaning when I'm actually obsessed with something.) Music and Fashion. My Oh My.

Fashion is art for the body, and music is art for the ears. Although my life revolves around the latest trends, the hottest items, and up and coming designers. But something that I am just as passionate about is music. My love of music came from a young age. Being a pre-teen music can virtually get you through anything. Break-ups, arguments, studying, boredom. Etc. And now that I am an adult I appreciate music more than ever. So I thought I would take this blog and post my favorite music icons who are known both for their amazing style and amazing music.



My first pick is the one and only Madonna. Madonna is the vintage Lady GaGa. It kind of bothers me that these days youth believes that GaGa started the trend of dressing like she just walked out of the circus, but ladies and gents, Madonna was doing it way before you were born. Don't get my wrong I am not speaking ill of GaGa, even I am a proud little monster. But Madonna is really the one who started it all with the crazy fashion.

My second pick is the British beauty, M.I.A. She takes street-chic to a whole new level. Whenever I see fan pics of her on the street, it looks like she tries to dress down, but it's style at its best.

If I didn't have Lady GaGa in here somewhere then I wouldn't be true to myself. That is why she is my third pick. She is artistic and unique. What's not to like?

And my last music icon is none other than Courtney Love. She is Americas sweetheart, and she is my sweetheart. She is by far one of my favorite female singers. I just love how anti-feminism she is, and how she could care less how anyone thinks of her. She plays off the grunge look well.
